Our people are the most important part of our firm, and hiring, training and retaining great people is critical.
French Duncan is proud to have been awarded ‘one to watch’ status by Best Companies to Work For in 2017, as a result of staff participation of the nationally recognised Best Companies b-Heard Survey. We pride ourselves on being a great company to work for, providing our staff with a wide range of benefits and training opportunities across our five offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Hamilton and Dumbarton. Don’t just take our word for it – click here to read what some of our staff have to say.
Alongside competitive pay, a variety of work and the opportunity to develop with French Duncan, we also provide a range of benefits for staff to participate in. Benefits include flexible start/finish options, annual leave purchase scheme, season ticket loans, cycle to work scheme, employee assistance programme and a generous client and staff referral scheme to name but a few!
Values are important or lasting beliefs or ideals about what is good or bad and desirable or undesirable. Values have a major influence on a person’s behaviour and attitude and serve as broad guidelines in all situations.
French Duncan employees and Partners each recently completed an engagement survey and voted on a variety of potential values – with the most popular being adopted as our firm’s values.
Are you considering training with French Duncan? It’s understandable, we are an accountancy firm with more than 23% of our employees currently undertaking some form of formal training, whether that be ICAS, ACCA, CTA, AAT, ATT, CII, CPI or JIE.
We will be attending a number of the graduate events throughout the year, please ensure you follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn to keep up to date.

Our charity and social events are all organised by our CSR & Social Committee, which is made up of staff from across each of the offices. At the end of each year our staff vote for the following year’s charity, rotating between Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling. You can find out more about our Corporate Social Responsibility here.
Go Yellow Day
In June 2018 each of our offices took part in a ‘Go Yellow’ day to raise money for our charity of the year, Strathcarron Hospice. This is some of the staff in their yellow outfits, some more imaginative than others!
Christmas Jumper Day
Every year our staff look forward to our Christmas Jumper day, which is usually the week before the office closes over Christmas and New Year. Below is a montage of our Christmas jumpers (and accessories!) from 2018:
In addition to our CSR & social committee we also have a Healthy Living team who organise office wide events each year.
In 2018 we introduced our first annual Easter challenge, which involved doing three workouts per week with the winners losing the highest percentage of inches throughout the month of March. Well done to Jude, Claire and Deirdre from our Hamilton office who won a vegetable spiralizer each.
We also had our yearly step challenge this September, which saw staff split in to teams to collectively achieve the highest number of steps through out the month of September and resulted in the usual level of competitiveness!
